We came across Dan Tepfer when it was suggested to us that we do Bach with live music. This was a proposal by the Théâtre de la Ville in collaboration with the Philharmonie de Paris. Our meeting revealed an immediate complicity that has continued to bear fruit through the piece On Goldberg Variations/Variations, in which we use his own version of Bach’s music. In this recording, Dan improvises a version of each of the Goldberg variations, with exceptional precision and sensitivity.
Dan trained as a pianist in both jazz and classical music. A great improviser, he gives concerts all over the world, working with other musicians and singers.
There are unexpected moments in life when you meet incredible people, and being able to work with Dan is one of these.
